We Have Shirts!

We’ve just gotten our second round of shirts printed and I personally can’t wait for the Atlanta conference.  Jeff and I are so pleased with the quality of the shirt that we have finally landed on!  They are 5.6oz pigment-dyed, 94% pre-shrunk ringspun cotton & 6% organic cotton shirts and they are about as comfortable as t-shirts get.  Not the cheapest t-shirts by any stretch, but we are committed to putting out a quality product.

In fact, I think it’s worth sharing that one of our suppliers tried to talk us into buying a much cheaper, high volume shirt so we can maximize our per-shirt profits, but after feeling the quality difference between the Gildan’s and the pigment dyed shirts that we ultimately selected, there’s no comparison.  These are great shirts.

Here are a couple of pictures of the colors that we’ve selected for the conference showing & they will also be in the on-line store:

New “Socialized” Design

Socialized Design

We’re totally excited to roll out our new “Socialized” design!  C’mon… you know you’ve heard it one too many times.  “Oh… you homeschool, huh?  What about socialization?”  Well, with the latest addition to the Homeskoolie lineup, you too can have the socialized stamp of approval.  100% guaranteed!

With our socialized design, we’re highlighting one of the great advantages to homeschooling and addressing one of the biggest questions about home education in a positive and engaging way.  Yes, in fact, children who are educated at home with mom and dad and often other siblings are indeed able to carry on intelligent conversations and have meaningful insights into the world and the relationships around them.

Our First Three Designs

Welcome to Homeskoolie!

Well, I guess we’re official now, what with a logo and all. And on top of that, we’ve nailed down the first three designs for our first round of printing! Yes, we have more, but hey, you can only afford so much at a time…

Think Outside The Class

We’ve settled on our official tag line for Homeskoolie. I think it really hits the nail on the head. We’re all about teaching how to think and cultivating lifelong learning in our children. I mean, that’s why we do what we do. We may have particular convictions about homeschooling and education and faith, but what we want at the end of the day is children who can think for themselves and not fit into someone else’s educational paradigm.

In a world of educational systems that standardize to the lowest common denominator (or less common to a middle of the pack target), homeschoolers stand outside of the institutions and believe that we don’t need them in order to equip our children to think, learn and grow.

Home Is Where The School Is

Jeff hit the nail on the head here! I love this line and I think this is probably going to be our best seller for ladies & girls. This is also a reminder that wherever we are and whatever we’re doing, we’re schooling our children. We may be doing it consciously or subconsciously and we may be doing a good job or a poor job, we may be homeschooling or sending our children to institutional school, but be assured that we are always schooling. And it is in the home that children are always learning. Ask yourself, “is what they are learning, the lessons you want to teach?”

And that leads to my next question… “is your heart really in homeschooling or has it become just something your doing?” If you need some encouragement, we’ve added some words of encouragement here and at the Homeskoolie site in a post called Thinking Big.

Cogito Ergo Homeskool

The final design that made the initial print cut loosely translates to, “I think, therefore I homeschool.” About half of our test market got this one right off and the other half had never heard Rene Descartes existential maxim, but everyone liked the design (and the meaning when we explained it!).

So there you have it, Round 1. First Printing is going slow but hopefully we’re making progress. We would love to hear your feedback on these initial designs and any suggestions that you might have for other Homeskoolie designs. Thanks a ton for your support!

Homeskoolie to Exhibit at Atlanta Homeschool Convention

New Designs in the Works!

Think Outside The ClassThe Homeskoolie team has been busy with new designs!  Our plan, since we’re just getting started, is to print our initial inventory in just one design, our signature “Think Outside the Class” tagline.  However, we’ve been busy getting ready for the demand that we hope is out there with several other designs, as well as several lines of designs.  We will shortly be posting some of them and would love to get your feedback on what you like, don’t like and suggest!
